Coach Junior — building champions on the court and leaders in life.
I arrived in Canada from the Caribbean at 12 years old in 1978, reuniting with my mother and sisters in Montreal. Like most kids in my neighborhood, I played hockey every day—but a year later, my gym teacher introduced me to basketball. From that moment on, the game became my passion.
When my family moved to NDG in 1980, I was surrounded by some of the best players in Montreal. Living near the legendary Black League and spending countless nights playing at Ouellette Park, I developed my game and my love for competition. By 16, I was a starter on championship teams, and basketball had become my life.
Along the way, I dreamed of becoming a sports journalist, inspired by writers and broadcasters like Michael Farber, Danny Gallivan, and Brent Musburger. But my true calling was always on the court.
Today, as Coach Junior, I’m committed to giving young athletes the same opportunities I had—teaching them to love the game, sharpen their skills, and embrace the discipline that basketball brings on and off the court. Basketball gave me joy, purpose, and lifelong friendships. Now I’m passing that on to the next generation.
